Fiber Construction Reaching Milestone

Posted: May 18, 2010

NAHUNTA, GA - Main cable construction for Brantley Telephone Company's fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) build is nearly complete.  Soon, every home in Brantley County will have been "passed" by the new fiber network.

Main cable construction is finished except for some work on Buster Walker Road, Mount Calvary Church Road, Satilla Church Road and Boots Harrison Road.  These roads are on the county's "Active List" of roads with paving projects planned in the near future.  Because of this, BTC has delayed fiber construction in those areas until the county secures all of the rights-of-way for utility placement.  Meanwhile, service drop installations and conversions are underway, but have a slower pace. Be assured, our employees are taking advantage of the extra daylight and working hard to get to your home.

Please keep in mind that this network is being built in Brantley County because Brantley Telephone Company is a locally-owned telecommunications provider with an interest in investing in its community.  While larger, nationwide companies focus their investments on metropolitan areas, BTC is quietly building superior infrastructure offering services to its rural customer base that are not even available to citizens in more populated counties next door.
BTC appreciates your business... and your patience during our upgrade.

As always, please call before you dig!  Dial 8-1-1 before you dig and someone will come locate all utility facilities in the area for free!
